Poster Guidelines

Poster Display Instructions

Posters will be displayed in the exhibition area throughout the entire conference.

Please note that the Poster Breakfast Session on Thursday, 11 September, from 7:45 AM to 8:45 AM is the designated time for you to present your research (see program here). We kindly ask all poster presenters to be available near their posters during at this time to engage with delegates and answer any questions. While not mandatory, we also recommend that presenters remain near their posters during break times throughout the conference to maximize opportunities for interaction and discussion.

Please ensure your posters are prepared and printed in portrait A0 size (841mm x 1189mm).

Tips for Creating your Poster

Resolution

  • Images should be at least 150 DPI at their printed size, please allow for this when scaling images. (For example if you creating a file at A4 size with images at 150 DPI and wanting to print at A1 size, the enlargement factor of 283% would mean that your printed DPI is approx 53 DPI.) Most images taken from the internet will be 72 DPI, which is too low for printing.

Fonts

  • Generally it is best to use only 2 – 3 fonts on a poster this will make your poster easier to read.
  • Please use a sans-serif font like Arial, Helvetica, Verdana or Aptos as these are the easiest to read. It is best to use an actual Bold or Italic font rather than simply selecting bold or italic in the menu commands - these may not print as shown on the screen.
  • As a general rule, for an A0 size poster, the heading should be around 70pt and body text around 24pt to 36pt depending on the amount of body text and additional data you include.

Colours

  • It will depend on the program you use as what range of colours you can select. Do not use Pantone Colours as these are spot colours which are not printable on many systems, in a worst case scenario Pantone colours will print as a blank white space. From a design perspective it is best to limit the number of colours on your poster to 3 to 4 colours (excluding those used in graphs).

Poster Installation and Allocations

Posters are to be installed on Wednesday 10 September from 7.30am – 9.00am. Please make your way to the exhibition space in Great Hall 3&4 and one of the Iceberg team will assist you further.
