Sustainability at 25OPCC

Conference organisers Palliative Care Australia and Iceberg Events, are committed to sustainable practices and reducing the impact of events on the environment.

See below the strategies and decisions that have been implemented throughout the conference to ensure we deliver a successful and sustainable event. We encourage all attendees to consider environmentally friendly options when attending 25OPCC. 

At 25OPCC

Event Materials 

Printed materials will be kept to a minimum at 25OPCC. Where unavoidable, materials will be printed on uncoated paper. 

All event information will be available through the conference app, including the program and sponsor resources.

We encourage all attendees to return any printed materials that you do not wish to keep at the conclusion of the conference for recycling. 

Satchels and branded merchandise will not be provided by the organisers at 25OPCC. 

Name Badge and Lanyard

The name badges and lanyards used at 25OPCC will be recycled at the conclusion of the conference. Please hand your name badge and lanyard in at the registration desk at the conclusion of the conference for recycling. 

Conference Venue

BCEC has achieved earthcheck platinum accreditation, incorporating 13 years of rigorous recertification audits. The globally-recognised certification ensures the centre’s compliance with the highest international environmental standards.

The BCEC is a centrally located venue that is within walking distance to public transport and major tourist destinations, eliminating the need for transfers and additional travel throughout the conference. With the Queensland Government currently offering 50-cent fares, there's never been a smarter time to choose public transport.

Your Contribution

Delegates can play a key role in supporting sustainability at the conference by making a few simple, eco-conscious choices. Please consider the following as you plan for your attendance at 25OPCC:

• Bring a reusable water bottle to reduce reliance on single-use plastic and stay hydrated throughout the day.
• Use a reusable coffee cup to minimise waste from disposable cups.
• Sort waste correctly by using the appropriate recycling, compost, and landfill bins to support effective waste management.
• Choose sustainable transport options, such as walking, cycling, carpooling, or public transport, where possible.
• Limit food waste by only taking what you'll eat, especially at buffets.
• Offset your travel emissions by choosing carbon offset options when booking flights.
