In partnership with The Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care, we are proud to offer scholarships for the 2025 Oceanic Palliative Care Conference.

25OPCC is going to be a game-changing experience, with a dynamic lineup of sessions, including expert speakers, and plenty of opportunities to share ideas and collaborate with your peers.

We know that the cost of registration can often be a barrier to attending. So, we hope these scholarships break down those barriers and help you bring your voice to the table.

Who Can Apply?

These scholarships are open to anyone working or volunteering in the palliative care sector, with priority given to the following categories:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers
  • Palliative care consumers and carers
  • Palliative care volunteers
  • People with less than three years’ experience in palliative care who have not previously attended the Oceanic Palliative Care Conference
  • People working in primary care, aged care or disability care in Australia
  • People working in palliative care in rural or remote areas of Australia
  • People working in palliative care from the Oceanic region

Two rounds of scholarships are available:

  • Round 1 (January–May 2025): Covers registration, accommodation, and travel for eligible applicants. (Only people living outside the Brisbane metropolitan area which includes Brisbane City, Ipswich, Logan City, Moreton Bay, and Redland City, can apply for travel and accommodation)
  • Round 2 (August 2025): Covers registration only. Applicants unsuccessful in Round 1 will automatically be considered for Round 2.

What’s Covered?

Scholarships include:

  • Full conference registration: Access to all sessions, networking opportunities, and events.
  • Accommodation: Three nights at a standard hotel near the conference venue.
  • Travel: Economy return flights from the nearest major airport and a $100 ground transport allowance. Variations will be managed on a case-by-case basis.

What We’re Looking For

The application form includes a few short-answer questions to help us learn more about you:

  1. Your connection to palliative care: Tell us about your professional or personal involvement.
  2. Why OPCC? Share what excites you about attending the conference.
  3. How OPCC will help you: Explain how attending will support your role or contributions.
  4. Your goals for the next three years: Let us know how this scholarship will help you achieve them.
