Abstract Mentoring Program: Supporting Your 25OPCC Submission

The 2025 Oceanic Palliative Care Conference (25OPCC) is introducing an exciting new initiative: the Abstract Mentoring Program. Designed to encourage participation and boost confidence, this program provides a supportive space for authors to refine their submissions with the help of experienced mentors from the program committee.

Mentors will guide authors on format, language, research methods, and aligning abstracts with conference themes. This program is particularly focused on supporting First Nations peoples, community groups, individuals with lived experience, early career researchers, first-time submitters, and those whose first language isn’t English.

Whether you’re new to conferences or looking for expert feedback, the Abstract Mentoring Program is here to help you shine.

How it works

  • Click here to request a mentor. Abstracts will be matched to mentors based on their topics, after which mentors will contact authors directly to commence the process.
  • Each author can submit up to two abstracts to the program for mentoring.
  • You will need a first draft of your abstract/s, so you have something to work on with the mentor.
  • Mentors will help abstract submitters answer questions around formal requirements for abstracts, research methods and analysis, as well as how to select appropriate tracks and categories.
  • Mentors will not make any edits/changes in submitted abstracts.
  • Mentors cannot indicate if they think the abstract is likely to be selected or not.
  • Abstract mentoring will close two weeks before the abstract submission date. Authors wishing to have an abstract mentored are asked to contact a mentor early in the submission process.
  • Having an abstract mentored does not guarantee that it will be accepted.
