Dr Wayne Vogler is Senior Principal Scientist and Team Leader with Biosecurity Queensland at the Tropical Weed Research Centre, Charters Towers. He has almost 30 years applied research experience in the ecology and management of invasive weeds such as rubber vine, prickly acacia, Navua sedge and bellyache bush in extensive beef production and environmental systems. Wayne is recognised as an expert in the management of invasive grasses having done extensive research into the ecology and management of invasive grasses including giant rat’s tail grass, grader grass and other invasive grass species. He also provides advice to other invasive weed research projects and co-supervises post graduate students and reviews manuscripts for Journal publication. Wayne has also represented Biosecurity Queensland on the Centre for Invasive Species Solutions, Weeds Steering Committee and is currently a member of the National Weeds Working Group.
With 40 years of extensive experience in Feral Animal Control from his early years at the family farm to a professional harvester, licence dealer & wild game processor; John Scriven moved to Natural Resource management which involved Engagement & Pest Management control though research and helped in the developing new toxins (Hoggone). Employment history Landcare; Queensland Murray Darling Committee, Murray Darling Basin Authority and Qld Department of Resource. John has presented at several Conferences in Australia and overseas including Feral Hog Conference USA 2016 & 2018. John currently holds the position of Darling Downs and SouthWest Qld Feral Pig Coordinator.
Shauna has worked in the natural resource management sector for 25 years. Her focus has been on ecological restoration and revegetation, policy, invasive species management and monitoring and evaluation for major programs. She has experience in both the public and private sectors, including local, state and the Australian government, and has also worked extensively with community groups and industry. Shauna is a Director at Wild Matters, a biosecurity consultancy that specialises in strategic planning, risk assessments, policy review and development and extension material and publications for pests and weeds. She enjoys working with people to identify and solve problems, improve processes, evaluate achievements and communicate outcomes.
