Dr. Shruti Swamy is a paediatric allergist and immunologist based in New South Wales, Australia, having completed her specialist training through the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and holds staff specialist appointments at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Royal North Shore Hospital, where she contributes to the advancement of paediatric allergy and immunology services. Shruti is an honorary specialist with the Department of Immunology/Allergy at Sydney Children’s Hospital, where she contributes to clinical research in the field. She has further established regional and rural Allergy and Immunology services, in order to provide accessible care for children in these areas.
Apart from her clinical work, Shruti is completing her Masters by Research at The Garvan Institute of Medical Research, through the University of New South Wales. Her passion is translational research, and apart from her MRes, Shruti is also engaged in several clinical research projects, including the review of the nationwide rollout of peanut immunotherapy (the ADAPT program). She has presented at national and international conferences, and more locally provides education on paediatric allergy and immunology to GPs, paediatricians and trainees, through her involvement in educational courses and talks. Shruti is further associated with the University of Sydney as a Clinical Lecturer, where she contributes to mentoring and education of medical students.
Shruti is a member of several national and international societies, including the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA), Australian and New Zealand Society for Immunology (ASI), European Society for Immunodeficiencies (ESID), Clinical Immunology Society (CIS) and Federation of Clinical Immunology Societies (FoCIS).
