Principal Consultant, Kim Tonnet Consulting

Kim is a Regulatory Scientist with over 30 years of experience in food manufacturing; working across several product categories in both B2C and B2B (including QSR). She has held roles in QA, NPD, Product Stewardship, Regulatory Science and Consumer Marketing in large multinationals such as Unilever, Mars, Coca-Cola South Pacific and Nestlé and, small/medium start-up enterprises such as the Lupin Protein Bread Company and All G (Foods). Kim now supports clients to achieve regulatory compliance through her company, Kim Tonnet Consulting. 

Kim is a keen advocate for best practice regulation, representing industry and food science professionals. She regularly engages with government (FSANZ, OGTR, DAFF NMI, TGA, ACCC and NZ MPI) and other stakeholders. She has also led/participated in working groups at ISO and Standards Australia, to develop global standards for vegan, vegetarian, plant-based and cell- cultivated foods. 

Kim’s special interests include international markets (import/export), allergen management, the food-medicine interface and future foods, particularly complementary proteins. Kim co-authored the original Food Industry Guide to Allergen Management and Labelling. She is an Advisory Board member of the Australasian Plant Based Association and a professional member of the Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology, chairing its Special Interest Group on Regulation.
