Senior Food Incident Response and Complaints Coordinator, New South Wales Food Authority
Alan is the Senior Food Incident Response and Complaints Coordinator with the New South Wales Food Authority.
He has been involved in food incident investigations for over 18 years and his investigation and incident management experience convers a range of food incidents from anaphylaxis due to inaccurate food labelling, shellfish toxin incidents and Salmonella outbreaks linked to multiple fatalities in aged care facilities. In 2014 Alan moved into the Food Authority’s Incident Response team. This team ensures that outbreaks of foodborne disease and other food hazards are managed effectively to minimise risk to human health and to limit damage to the food industry.
In his current role, Alan is the NSW ‘Action officer’ for food recalls under the National Food Industry Recall Protocol, is a member of the National Food Safety Network and, is involved in the Australia New Zealand Food Allergen Collaboration.
