Speaker Guidelines

Many thanks for your participation in the 2024 Australasian Cystic Fibrosis Conference. We are thrilled to have your knowledge and expertise showcased at the Conference. Please see information below to assist in the planning for your presentation. If at any point you have any questions regarding the event or your presentation, please do not hesitate to contact the Iceberg Team.

Key Speaker Dates

Friday 31 May - complete speaker registration
Friday 12 July - send any special AV requirements to Iceberg Events Team (all oral presenters)
Monday 26 July - send PPT presentation to Iceberg Events Team (all oral presenters)

Event Dates

Friday 2 - Saturday 3 August 2024 - Medical Conference
Sunday 4 August 2024 - Lay Conference

Location

The 2024 Australasian Cystic Fibrosis Conference will be held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, entry via Grey Street.

Plenary and Connect Sessions will be held in the Plaza Auditorium on the plaza level.
Breakout sessions will be held in rooms P6-11 on the plaza level.
Posters will be displayed in the Plaza Foyer, outside rooms P6-11.

Journal Publication

All accepted abstracts will be published in the Journal of Respirology, August 2024 edition. Aside from formatting to meet with publication compliance, your abstract will be published as per the original submission via the abstract portal.

Program and Presentation Time

Please view a copy of the program here to find your presentation time. Please allow time for Q&A at the end of your presentation.

All oral abstract presentations are 10 minutes duration, with 4 minutes for questions at the end.

Presentation

All presentations must be created using Microsoft PowerPoint. Videos are to be embedded in your slide rather than inputted as external links. Note: PowerPoint presentations are required in 16:9 format.

We request that all presentations be emailed to mika@icebergevents.com.au by Monday 24 July, 2024. This will ensure that your presentation is pre-loaded onto the venue laptops prior to your presentation.

Audio Visual

Basic audio visual will be provided as follows:

Small stage with steps in larger rooms
Data projector and screen (16:9 ratio)
Lectern and microphone
Wireless clicker for advancing PowerPoint slides

There will be a Speakers Prep AV technician located at or near the registration desk to assist with loading your presentation and any technical checks.

Please advise Mika (mika@icebergevents.com.au) by Friday 12 July 2024 if you require any additional AV equipment other than what is listed above.

Speaker Registration

All speakers and poster presenters are required to register for the conference by Friday 31 May.

Speaker Consent

By agreeing to speak at the ACFC, you agree that you may be photographed and these photos to be used by CFA for marketing purposes.

If you do not consent to be photographed, please email mika@icebergevents.com.au prior to the conference.

Poster Presentations

Abstract posters must be presented in Portrait orientation not exceeding A0 size (841mm wide x 1189mm high). Posters may consist of text, tables, photographs, etc. and should contain the most current data available at the time of the ACFC, even if it was not included in the original abstract.

A display board will be provided for mounting your poster. To secure your poster to the board, you are required to provide VELCRO strips on the back of your posters.

Poster of Merit

The official poster of merit presentation session will be held on Saturday 3 August from 12.40 – 1.40 pm. As stated in your ACFC 2024 abstract acceptance letter, you or a member of your group must be at your poster to discuss your work during the formal poster session. ALL PRESENTERS MUST ATTEND FOR THE ENTIRE POSTER SESSION TIMEFRAME.

If you have posters in more than one category, there is no guarantee they will be displayed close to each other. If your poster has more than one author, you may want to divide your poster session attendance responsibilities. Otherwise, attach a note to one of the posters as to where you can be found in your other poster category.

Poster Display

If you have been accepted as a poster display, you are not required to prepare a presentation with your poster.

We ask that all poster display authors be near their posters during the lunch break at 12:40pm - 1:40pm on Saturday 3 August for the official poster viewing time.

Poster Setup and Removal

Access to set up posters is from 7.00 - 8.00am on Friday 2 August. Posters that are not completely set up by 8.00am will NOT be displayed.

Poster removal begins after afternoon tea, at 3.20pm on Saturday, 3rd August. Posters may NOT be removed for any reason before that time. Posters not removed by 7.30pm will be discarded. CFA and conference organisers do not accept responsibility for posters left behind.

Awards

Certificates will be awarded for Best Oral Presentation and Best Poster of Merit in each stream during the Closing Plenary:
