Dr Amath sits on several other boards including IWSS and QPASTT. She is the founder and/or chair of a number of different organisations focussed on supporting people of diverse backgrounds, and is the first female chairperson of the Islamic Relief Australia. She also co-founded a DV refuge for CALD women in Queensland.

Over the years, Dr Amath has served as a consultant and cross-cultural trainer for various Australian government agencies and organisations on issues related to Islam, Muslims, multiculturalism, diversity and community development. She was won many awards for her efforts and in 2017, she was a finalist in the Australian of the Year Awards.
