CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

The University of Queensland’s Centre for Online Health (UQ-COH) is pleased to announce the call for abstracts for the 2026 Successes and Failures in Telehealth (SFT-26) conference to be held in Brisbane from 5 - 6 November 2026. This year’s conference will mark the 25th Anniversary for SFT, so we are really looking forward to celebrating this important milestone with you.

The SFT conference is an interactive experience that promotes engagement, innovation, critical debate, and future planning. Recognising the rapidly evolving changes we are seeing in telehealth and virtual care, our conference committee is very interested in hearing about your ideas and experiences.  Our program will cater for a broad range of stakeholders, including researchers, clinicians, service managers, industry leaders, and consumers.

• Abstracts Submission Close: Monday 18 May 2026

• Peer-review of abstracts: Monday 1 June – Monday 15 June 2026

• Notification to Presenters:  w/c 22 June 2026• Scholarship applications close: Friday 26 June 2026

• Notification of scholarship awards: w/c 6 July 2026

• Draft program available: early July 2026

• Early-bird registrations close: Monday 21 September 2026

• Final Abstracts for SFT-26 conference proceedings: Monday 12 October 2026

Topics of Interest

We encourage submissions relating to the clinical use of telehealth and virtual care across a range of broad settings and disciplines including public and private hospitals, general practice, specialist services, allied health, nursing, residential aged care facilities, in the home and within First Nations community settings. The committee is very keen to receive submissions that report on failures (or challenges) as well as successful experiences involving telehealth and virtual care – see example topics below.

Abstract Choices

Authors are to select a 'Presentation Type':

• 15 Minute Oral Presentation

• 3 Minute Oral-Poster Presentation

• Poster Display

Authors are to select ‘Category Type’:

• Option 1: Scientific Papers (including formal research methods)

• Option 2: Case Studies and Clinical Reports (service descriptions)

OPTION 1:
SCIENTIFIC PAPERS

Original unpublished contributions in all fields of telemedicine, telehealth and related areas of eHealth are invited. Authors have the opportunity to submit abstracts up to 300 words in length (excluding references).

Abstracts must contain the following:

  • A clearly stated AIM
  • METHODS
  • RESULTS and
  • CONCLUSION for the work reported.

OPTION 2:
CASE STUDIES AND CLINICAL REPORTS

Submissions are also sought which describe clinical experiences associated with telehealth. In 300 words or less, briefly describe your telehealth service and outline the key lessons learnt.

The abstract should be brief and unstructured, with a maximum of 300 words.


Formatting Requirements

TITLE 

• Title should be a maximum of 150 characters in length

AUTHOR/S 

• Enter name/s of author/s on form

• Check the box for those authors who are presenting

• Each author needs to be listed separately 

• Include professional titles (e.g. Dr, Prof) when entering the author/presenter names

TEXT 

• The online form will not keep any formatting you have created from a Word document; simply enter your abstract into the content box provided

• Abstracts should be a maximum of 300 words written in the English language 

• Do not leave blank lines between paragraphs 

• Use standard abbreviations only

• Do not use abbreviations in the title

Peer Review

All abstracts will be subject to peer review by an international committee of experts in the field.

Abstracts will be judged on originality, significance, technical quality, relevance to the conference themes, and presentation. Submission of an abstract will be regarded as an undertaking that, should it be accepted, at least one author will register and attend the conference to present the work. Authors may submit more than one abstract, provided it meets the conditions outlined earlier.

Conference Proceedings

All accepted abstracts will be published in the SFT-26 conference proceedings.
