Master Plumbers’ Association Queensland (MPAQ) and the Plastics Industry Pipe Association of Australia (PIPA), in conjunction with industry partners launched the Construction Plastics Recycling Scheme in 2021.
Working collaboratively with industry, collection bins are located across 40 locations including plumbing merchant stores, construction and housing sites, TAFE and training colleges and recyclers - providing alternative outlets for PVC-off cuts and fittings to be disposed. The aim of the scheme is to educate on PVC pipes recyclability and capture value and reliable data on the volume of PVC off-cuts and fittings generated during construction.
The Construction Plastics Recycling Scheme received funding from the Queensland Government’s Recycling and Jobs Fund.
