Welcome

As Queenslanders who are committed to ending violence against women and girls, we have the unique opportunity to ensure our efforts create a lasting change.

On a National level, the National Plan to End Violence Against Women and Children in one generation is the overarching policy framework that will guide actions towards ending violence against women and children over the next 10 years.

In Queensland, the Women’s Safety and Justice Taskforce led by former President of the Queensland Court of Appeal, the Honourable Justice Margaret McMurdo AC, has set out an ambitious reform agenda. The reform, endorsed by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, invites us all to be part of creating change for women through the justice system and an integrated approach to meeting their needs in seeking safety and protection.

The Listen, Connect, Reflect conference is an opportunity for us all to dive into the National framework, raise the voices of Lived Experience and strengthen our collaboration with the vision to end violence against women and girls in our communities.

On the organising committee are Micah Projects- Brisbane Domestic Violence Service, DVConnect, Immigrant Women’s Support Services, Multicultural Australia, Queensland Indigenous Family Violence Legal Service, Women’s Health and Equality Queensland and Women’s Legal Service Queensland.

Join us over two days as we Listen, Reflect and Connect!

Listen, Connect, Reflect is hosted in Meanjin (Brisbane). We acknowledge the Traditional Owners/Custodians of these lands and waters, and pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners/Custodians of all the lands and waters throughout Australia on which our work takes place. We pay our respects to their Elders and acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
