ASAM 2023 Conference heading to Hobart, Australia


Welcome

What a pleasure it will be to welcome our members and friends to the 2023 Annual Conference. Our theme, Aerospace Medicine: Beyond Flight’, embraces the new and emerging opportunities within and beyond the specialty.

The scientific program will touch on many aspects of this broad area of medical specialty.

We look forward to welcoming the John Lane Orator, Dr Jeff Ayton, Chief Medical Officer, Polar Medical Unit, Australian Antarctic Division . It will also be a privilege to welcome Dr Isaac Bogoch, the 2023 Patterson Trust Speaker.

Dr Jeff Ayton, MBBS MPH&TM FACRRM FACTM FFEWM AFFTM DRANZCOG DA (UK), is a past president of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine and current chair of ACRRM Rural and Remote Digital Innovations Group. He commenced with the Australian Antarctic Division as Chief Medical Officer in 2002 with responsibility for the Australian Antarctic Program medical support and leadership of human biology and medicine research. He is current Australian delegate to Scientific Committee of Antarctic Research Life Sciences Scientific Group and SCAR COMNAP Joint Expert Group of Human Biology and Medicine. 

Dr Isaac Bogoch holds a Masters degree in clinical epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health, and a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the Gorgas Memorial Institute and the Instituto de Medicina Tropical in Lima, Peru.
