abstract submissions




THE ABSTRACT SUBMISSION PORTAL HAS NOW CLOSED

The CR24 Abstract Submission Process will open Wednesday, 1 May 2024, please submit your abstract by 5.00pm AEST Monday, 1 July 2024.

Eligibility

A maximum of two abstracts per author will be accepted from the following:

  • Colorectal Surgeons
  • Colorectal Fellows
  • General Surgery Trainees
  • Non-accredited Registrars
  • Medical Students
  • Interns/PGY2

Formatting Your Abstract

  • A maximum of two (2) abstracts will be accepted by the same author
  • Title should be brief and explicit
  • Research papers should follow the format of:

         –  Purpose

         –  Methodology

         –  Results

         –  Conclusion

  • Excluding title, authors (full given name plus family name) and institution, your abstract must not exceed 250 words
  • *References are not required – please do not include them
  • *Figures/tables are not required – please do not include them
  • To be considered you must submit your abstract via the abstract portal. Access this portal using the   button below
  • Case studies will not be considered under any circumstance

*References and figures/tables will be deleted prior to submitting for review.

Presenting Your Research

Verbal Presentations

  • Successful applicants for verbal presentations will be allocated a total of five (5) minutes plus two (2) minutes for audience questions and answers 
  • There will be free-paper sessions allocated within the two-day program
  • Successful applicants will be randomly allocated to a date and time. Once this occurs, no changes can or will be made
  • All accepted abstracts for verbal presentations will be included in the official Final Program
  • All successful applicants for a verbal presentations must register to attend CR24
  • All successful applicants must present in-person. Virtual presentations will not be accepted

Poster Presentations

  • Unsuccessful applicants for verbal presentations will be offered the option to present their presentation as a virtual poster
  • All posters will be displayed in on a screen within the trade area
  • Virtual posters are to be displayed in a 16:9 single screen format
  • All poster presentation presenters must register to attend CR24


Terms and Conditions - 2024

1.     The acceptance, timing, presentation, and discussion of all papers are at the discretion of the
        Organising Committee

2.     The submission closing date and time is AEST 17:00 on Monday 1 July 2024

3.     A maximum of two papers per author will be accepted

4.     Late submissions will not be considered under any circumstance

5.     All outlined requirements pertaining to formatting your abstract must be adhered to. Any submitted abstract that          exceeds the advertised word count, will have all words over the word count deleted prior to the formal review                  process 

6.     Changes to your abstract, or re-submission will not be considered after the close date

7.     All submitted papers will be reviewed by the Organising Committee following the close of the abstract                              submission process

8.     Each abstract will be reviewed based on the following criteria:

  • Is the abstract original?
  • Does it address an important scientific question?
  • Is the abstract clearly written with all salient facts?
  • Does the work adhere to ethical guidelines?
  • Is there evidence of statistical method if appropriate?
  • Are the conclusions justified by the results?

9.     Successful applicants will be notified of the outcome by email by Monday, 22 July 2024

10.  The allocation of date and time for verbal presentations is not negotiable

11.  The author who has submitted the abstract is considered to be the presenter. Requests to change presenters will not be considered

12.  If authors wish to withdraw their abstracts from presentation or publication, they are requested to notify the event manager via e-mail at chloe@icebergevents.com.au

13.  In order to present, a completed CR24 registration must be submitted prior to presentation date/time

Failure to complete this process will result in an incomplete submission and a certificate of presentation will not be issued
