Professor David Clark

Professor Clark is a senior visiting colorectal surgeon at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. He qualified from the University of QLD in 1991, trained in general surgery in Brisbane, and undertook colorectal fellowships in the United Kingdom. He was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons at Edinburgh in January 2002.

He is a Professor in Surgery at the University of QLD and operates a busy clinical practice based at the St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside. He has a strong interest in inflammatory bowel disease and minimally invasive colorectal surgery. Professor Clark has presented internationally and published in both these fields.

Professor Clark established the Brisbane Colorectal Research Unit (CRU) in 2016 and personally overseas more than 50 projects and supervises HDR candidates. He has a history of collaborative research and has been awarded a PhD through the University of Sydney in 2022. He is a board member of the Australia and New Zealand Training Board in Colorectal Surgery (ANZTBCRS). He is a recent convenor for the Colorectal Surgical Society and RACS Section scientific meetings.
