The National Injury Insurance Agency, Queensland (NIISQ Agency) is Queensland’s lifetime
treatment, care, and support scheme for people who have sustained an eligible, serious
personal injury in a motor vehicle accident on a Queensland road, regardless of fault. NIISQ
Agency is responsible for assessing eligibility and arranging payment of necessary and
reasonable treatment, care and support for NIISQ participants, as well as monitoring the
provision of these services.
As a Queensland Government agency, we work closely with a range of service providers
across the state to use an evidence-based research and treatment philosophy that ensures
participants in NIISQ have access to services that will provide them with the most benefit for
their long-term health.
NIISQ helps participants achieve their individual goals, maximise their independence and
participate in the community. The principles of collaboration and informed decision-making
are central to NIISQ and are achieved by providing evidence-based treatment, care and
support options which suit individual requirements.
The Scheme commenced in Queensland 1 July 2016. (National Injury Insurance Scheme
