JESS BUGEJA

Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Neurodevelopment and Plasticity Team, CSIRO Health and Biosecurity

Dr Jessica Bugeja’s main field of research is at the intersection of neuroscience, neuroimaging and motor-based disorders. The overall aim of her research has been to leverage advanced imaging, AI, and translational approaches to improve diagnostic accuracy, intervention effectiveness, and patient outcomes throughout the life span. During her PhD, she developed automated medical image analysis tools to improve the assessment of cartilage composition and cam morphology using magnetic resonance images of the hip joint. To date she has collaborated on several projects including, the investigation of age-related differences in muscle volume/ intramuscular fat in the triceps surae, the integration of fused images to improve tumour visualisation in the prostate, a mobile health application for families of people with cerebral palsy, preterm diffusion imaging to predict neurodevelopmental outcomes and an exoskeleton intervention for people with Parkinson’s Disease.
