SUBMIT ABSTRACT

Dear Authors,

This conference will provide a forum for the sharing of ideas, presentation of research findings and discussion of professional issues relevant to children’s rehabilitation. Several dedicated streams with a variety of presentation types will provide delegates with opportunities to update their knowledge and understanding of a broad range of topics, network with colleagues and learn from exhibitors.

Delegates may include medical and allied health professionals; education and disability professionals; parents and carers; researchers and students.

The streams may include:

Physical Rehabilitation: assessment and treatment approaches
Cognitive Rehabilitation: assessment and treatment approaches
Psycho-social issues
Rehabilitation of children with brain injuries, cerebral palsy or like conditions
Management of children with spinal disabilities
Environmental modifications/assistive technology
Models of service delivery/health economics
Resources/tools to support children’s rehabilitation
The changing face of health and disability services
Neuroscience
Community programs
Transitions including: starting school, to high school, adulthood
Participation
Consumer consultation and involvement

INVITATION TO SUBMIT AN ABSTRACT

Submissions are invited for presentations on paediatric rehabilitation topics within the above conference topics. Abstracts may fit any of the following methodological categories:

Quantitative Research:

Involves reporting of numbers or data collected using recognised scientific methodology specific to the research question. Examples include: clinical trials, systematic reviews, single case experimental design studies, validity or reliability testing, biomechanical studies and epidemiological studies.

Qualitative Research:

Relates to the development of theories or interpretations of human behaviour or experience. Recognised qualitative methodologies are used (phenomenology, ethnography, grounded theory) using data collection methods such as in-depth interviews, participant observation, focus groups etc.

Mixed method research:

Qualitative and quantitative techniques are mixed in a single study.

Practice Note:

Addresses timely issues in practice settings, practice guidelines or emerging intervention areas, or will express practice opinion that is supported by theory and evidence from the literature. Examples include descriptions of practice innovations, advocacy efforts, new technologies or products, and introductions to new interventions.

Other:

Includes topics where no formal research methodology was used. Examples include case studies, a report of an event or professional trip (eg overseas), policy development or a position statement.

PRESENTATION FORMATS

Short workshops:

1.5 to 2 hours. Teaching or training of techniques or guidelines for development of protocols/processes or demonstration of practice.

Oral presentations:

15 minutes. Report on original research, innovative programs and professional practices, theoretical and conceptual advances.

Poster Presentations:

Posters provide a static visual display of new techniques, programs, research or professional innovations. They are the ideal medium for the presentation of complex visual material and emerging practice content.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION INFORMATION

1. General Conditions

All abstracts submitted must be original work
Submitting author to nominate their abstract category
The author is responsible for the accuracy of the abstract
All abstracts will be reviewed by members of the scientific committee.
We hope to showcase presentations from a wide variety of places so we will aim to prioritise 1-2 presentations from each major paediatric rehabilitation service and include additional presentations as the program allows.

TITLE

Title should be a maximum of 150 characters in length

AUTHOR/S

Enter name/s of author/s on form
Check the box for those authors who are presenting
Each author needs to be listed separately
Include professional titles (e.g. Dr, Prof) when entering the author/presenter names

TEXT

The online form will not keep any formatting you have created from a Word document; simply enter your abstract into the content box provided
Abstracts should be a maximum of 300 words written in the English language
Do not leave blank lines between paragraphs
Use standard abbreviations only
Do not use abbreviations in the title

AUTHOR NOTIFICATION

You will be notified of acceptance of your submission by end October 2024 giving adequate time for travel arrangements to be made. All presenters of papers, posters and workshops, must pay for conference registration, and co-ordinate their own accommodation and travel arrangements.

Upon receiving notification of acceptance, authors are required to notify the conference organisers of their intent to participate/present at the conference. Authors who fail to notify the conference organisers may have their presentations withdrawn from the program at the discretion of the committee.
