DR AtheNA STEIN

Postdoctoral Researcher, Carolina Center for Neurostimulation, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill

Dr Athena Stein is a US-based postdoctoral researcher at the Carolina Center for Neurostimulation at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Here, she is developing next-generation personalized neuromodulation treatments in psychiatry, particularly focusing on clinical trials using closed-loop transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) in depression and antenatal depression. Prior to moving to the US, Athena completed her PhD in the Acquired Brain Injury in Children Research Group (UQ Faculty of Medicine), where she investigated the use of non-invasive neuromodulation to improve attention in children with acquired brain injury. Athena is excited to return to her home ground to talk about her PhD work involving the first at-home treatment trial using non-invasive brain stimulation in pediatric acquired brain injury
