Visiting Gold Coast in August is one of the best times of the year, it is Gold Coast's last month of winter with average temperatures ranging from 11°C - 22°C. Expect sublime weather, perfect for exploring the coast typically with little to no rain.

Getting Around

Moving around Gold Coast is relatively easy with a reliable public transport network with different options to choose from; you can pick from the tram, train or bus system. The most popular options utilised by locals is the tram.

The tram extends for 13 km through Gold Coast starting at the Gold Coast University Hospital stopping at 16 stations along the way, travelling through Southport, Main Beach, Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach connecting you with majority of the coast. 

If you wish to travel by bus, the system is predominantly focused around Gold Coast suburbs, taking you to train stations, major shopping centres and some attractions.

Travelling by rail is the most popular option to get to Brisbane, especially the Brisbane Airport. If you are arriving in Brisbane you can catch the Airtrain to Gold Coast and return to for free if you book directly through their website. 

Tip Gold Coast is apart of the Smart Ticketing trial allowing for you to tap on and off using a Visa, Mastercard or American Express contactless debit/credit card, smartphone, smart watch or smart device to pay the same adult go card fare. Look for the pink tower to pay. Read more here.
