Ben Painter

Ben spent 21 years working in a number of roles in the Illicit Drugs Group of Forensic Science SA, including 11 years as Team Leader overseeing the Illicit Drug and Clandestine Laboratory casework.

He has recently joined the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission as a Principal Specialist Chemist, providing technical support on drugs and drug manufacture.

Ben is the Illicit Drugs Representative on the National Association of Testing Authorities Forensic Science Accreditation Advisory Committee (NATA FSAAC) and is the current Australia and New Zealand regional representative on the Scientific Working Group for the Analysis of Seized Drugs (SWGDRUG).

Ben has published a number of articles relating to illicit drugs and their manufacture in international scientific journals, including relating to the use of new and novel precursor chemicals in the manufacture of Amphetamine Type Substances (ATS).
