Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) to Integrated Product Support (IPS), Transition or Evolution?

Andrew Barber (Host)

Andrew has been working in the ILS space since 2012 when he joined the Department of Defence as a Logistics Graduate. Since then, he has worked in the Government, as well as Defence Industry across a range of Defence projects.

Chris Deeble (Keynote Speaker)

Chris is the Deputy Secretary of the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) in the Department of Defence.

Chris has extensive experience spanning the defence, industry, and commercial sectors and working with the government. He served 37 years in the Australian Defence Force, notably as an Air Vice-Marshal. Chris will share his insight on Defence’s transition to IPS.

Gary Pearce

He is a proficient and qualified ILS/IPS Manager with over 50 years’ experience working in various ADF (21 years), Public (12 years) and Private (18 years) sectors.

With a Masters in both Logistics Management and Project Management, Gary has demonstrated experience in ILS/IPS, asset management, project management, supply chain, logistics engineering, procurement logistics, materials management, maintenance, technical support, documentation/data, test/trials and training development and conduct. In addition, Gary, based on his experience and knowledge, been awarded a Registered Practitioner IPS (RP (IPS)) by ASCI and the Certified Professional Logistician (CPL) by the Transport & Logistics Certification Council. He is currently the ASCI IPS Community Secretary and is a former SCLAA ACT President and past Board Director of SCLAA.

Nima Moradi

With over 16 years of experience in engineering, logistics, and project management, Nima has made notable contributions to strategic defence and energy projects internationally, valued at over $100 billion. Proficient in Systems, Logistics, and Reliability Engineering, he has a solid background in logistics engineering and asset optimisation, aligning with ISO55000 standards. Working as an Associate Director at KPMG Australia, Nima is providing strategic guidance and support system design services to some of the most complex Australian Defence Force capability systems, leveraging his expertise to benefit high-performing teams in a fast-paced industry. Nima places a strong emphasis on cultivating best-practise engineering principles through coaching and mentoring.

Ian Mortimer 

Ian is a skilled ILS Logistician with more than three decades of experience including eight years’ service as a Communications Technician in the RAN. He has been involved with a wide range of Defence Acquisitions ranging from the Super Hornet Project to the RAN Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) and more recently the UH-60M Black Hawk and MQ-4C Triton projects. From joining LES in 1999 with no ILS experience to becoming an ILS Training Lead, has a keen interest in mentoring and growing the next generation of ILS/IPS practitioners.
