The 2023 Oceanic Palliative Care Conference (23OPCC) was an exceptional gathering of over 1400 delegates from diverse backgrounds, all driven by a shared passion for delivering quality palliative care.

The three-day event ignited our shared goal and passion to shape stronger health systems and deliver quality palliative care. The 2025 conference program will continue this momentum and take us a step further in learning of and sharing real-world actions and solutions that respond to the challenges of an ageing population.

One such challenge is the disconnect between different systems of care that a person living with a life-limiting illness and their family have to navigate. Many receive fragmented care and fall through the gaps.

25OPCC seeks to address this critical need and facilitate conversations around the theme, ‘Connecting Systems for Better Care’. We will again extend the discussion to the wider health sector and the different systems of care that intersect with palliative care.

Aged care, primary health, oncology, dementia care, disability services, paediatrics, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health – all have a growing awareness of the role they can and need to play in someone’s palliative care journey. 25OPCC will energise that discussion, and with government and policy makers in the room, we can shape the region’s future reform agenda.

25OPCC will be held from 10 – 12 September 2025 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

We hope to see you in Brisbane!

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land which the 25OPCC Conference will be held. We pay our respects to the Elders, past and present, for they hold the memories, traditions, the culture and hopes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across the state of Queensland and Australia.
